Scott Morrison becomes Australia's Prime Minister

Scott Morrison becomes the 30th Prime Minister of Australia (designate) is Scott Morrison. 

Scott Morrison has won the leadership contest and will become the next prime minister of Australia. He attracted 45 votes to Peter Dutton‘s 40. It is an An extraordinary result, given the events of the last week were brought on by Dutton and the conservative wing of the party.

The Prime Minister

Scott John Morrison (born 13 May 1968) is an Australian politician who is the Prime Minister -designate of Australia and the Leader of the Liberal Party. He has been a member of the House of Representatives since 2007, representing the Division of Cook in New South Wales.

 Frydenberg elected deputy with ‘absolute majority’ Government whip Nola Marino has emerged from the party room to confirm the results. 

After the Liberal Party was elected to government at the 2013 election, he was appointed to cabinet as Minister for Immigration and Border Protection in the Abbott Government.  In that capacity he was responsible for implementing Operation Sovereign Borders.

Prior to the news being released of the new PM, a number of lawyers and legal bodies weighed in about dissatisfaction with the federal government.
