The Company is a Family-owned-business in the supply of Steel and Industrial/Engineering and related products and services. They are looking for Metal Fabricator/ Welder to join a busy team in Sydney.

The Role

  • Our services include Awning, Staircases, Balustrading, Metal Work & Design.  
  • Mig welding
  • Manual arc welding
  • Fabrication of steel products from scratch
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision and as part of a team
  • Ability to read drawings and produce fabrication from detailed structural drawings
  • A pressure ticket to weld up steel pipe work would be a bonus.
  • Must have a valid Driver license
  • You must reliable and component in all aspect of metal fabricating & welding.
  • RIW Card
  • Forklift, Boom lift, Scissor lift.

The Ideal Candidate
Proven experience as well as trade qualifications as a welder/fabricator are essential. You must possess at least 10 years in a similar role. Excellent communication skills are essential.  
  
While local candidates will be given priority, outstanding international candidates may also be considered for employment with 482 visa sponsorship.   

If TSS visa sponsorship is required, you must meet the TSS/457 visa eligibility. In this regard, if you require IELTS English and skills assessments, these would be required before consideration.

UNIT GROUP 3223 STRUCTURAL STEEL AND WELDING TRADES WORKERS

STRUCTURAL STEEL AND WELDING TRADES WORKERS cut, shape, join and repair metal components of iron and steel structures, boilers, pressure vessels and pipes, ships and other vessels.

Indicative Skill Level:
Most occupations in this unit group have a level of skill commensurate with the qualifications and experience outlined below.

In Australia:
AQF Certificate III including at least two years of on-the-job training, or AQF Certificate IV (ANZSCO Skill Level 3)

In New Zealand:
NZ Register Level 4 qualification (ANZSCO Skill Level 3)

At least three years of relevant experience may substitute for the formal qualifications listed above. In some instances relevant experience and/or on-the-job training may be required in addition to the formal qualification.

Tasks Include:

      • studying blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine job requirements
      • selecting, cleaning and preparing metal stock
      • cutting marked-out metal sections and shapes using hand tools, flame cutting torches and metal cutting machines
      • shaping and bending metal sections and pipes using hand and machine tools, and by heating and hammering
      • aligning parts to be joined using hand tools and measuring instruments
      • joining metal sections using various welding techniques, bolting and riveting
      • examining welds for width of bead, penetration and precision
      • finishing products by cleaning, polishing, filing and bathing in acidic solutions
      • cleaning and smoothing welds by filing, chiselling and grinding
